The Spray Technician is responsible for maintaining our customer’s lakes to the highest standards, leading to additional shoreline restoration work for our other division, customer referrals, and expansion of our maintenance division into new markets and territories.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Prepare and apply chemical solutions (herbicides, fungicides, algaecides)
● Keep up with chemical inventory as well as keeping records of applications on-site
● Update spray records, inventory, and MSDS sheets
● Calibrate spray equipment
● General upkeep and maintenance on spray equipment
● Over time be able to diagnose pest and fungus issues
● Check water quality in a lake and know how to treat algae issues
● Identify issues with oxygenation and recommend aerators and fountains
● Talk with clients if needed and address their concerns
● Manage a small crew
● Enforce crew safety, including orange cones, PPE, proper hydration and heat protection, & breaks
● Other duties as assigned
General Required Knowledge, Skills, and Credentials
● Knowledge of native littoral plants and trees
● Knowledge of exotic and noxious plants and trees
● Proficient with iPhone, Google Docs, Gmail, and other applications as specified by supervisor
● Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator
● Valid driver’s license with no major violations within past 3 years
Specific Knowledge and Experience in the Operation and Calibration of
● Mechanically pressurized spray equipment
● Hand-operated spray equipment
● Utility tractors
● Ability to launch a small water craft and load it on a trailer with no help
● Boats with mechanical sprayers
● Towing a trailer, DOT-approved strapping
